Mumbai Indians Surge Halted: GT Seizes Victory in the Thrilling Match
Mumbai Indians lost their first match in almost a month. Gujarat Titans ended MI’s six-match winning streak to move to the top of the table in IPL 2025. The match was affected by rain and went into a one-over thriller that Gujarat won dramatically. Gujarat Titans managed a double over Mumbai this season.
Jacks, Surya shine, but the rest fail
The team in blue was scoring for fun in the recent games. Rohit returned to form, and Rickelton also played good knocks in his first IPL. Gujarat bowlers knew their threat and dealt with them easily.

Siraaj got the first breakthrough in the second ball of the match. Ryan Rickelton was caught early in the match. Rohit followed his opening partner after getting caught on Arshad Khan’s delivery.
Mumbai Indians Set Modest Total
Mumbai has a deep batting line-up. Will Jacks was sent in his favoured one-down role. The Englishman helped his side build a partnership along with Suryakumar Yadav. This duo added 71 runs for the third wicket in just 43 balls. Surya was the next batter to go on 35. Jack’s managed to score his second half-century in the IPL. He added 53 runs but gave his wicket in the very next over after Surya’s dismissal.
Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, and Naman Dhir were dismissed on a single figure. This stopped the scoring, and MI were in a spot of bother. From 97 for two in 10.3 overs, MI were 123 for seven in 16.2 overs. Corbin Bosch added 27 runs towards the end to take his side to 155 for eight. Sai Kishore took two wickets, and the rest of the bowlers managed one wicket each.
Sudarshan fails, but Gill keeps the team in the match
Sai Sudarshan failed to score big in this match and got out in single figures. Shubman Gill played the anchor role and allowed other batters to do the hitting. Buttler added 30 runs and Rutherford added a quickfire 28. Gill scored 43 runs but took 46 balls. Bumrah and Boult brought their team back into the match with two wickets each. Ashwani Kumar came as a concussion sub for Bosch. He also added a couple of wickets to his name. This match went down to the wire.

Last over thriller
There was a lot of rain interruption during the match. Towards the end, GT lost some quick wickets. Gill’s men were in a spot of bother as they fell behind on DLS par score. Gujarat were short by five runs before the last interruption. They needed 24 runs in the last two overs.
The rain stopped the play for around 45 minutes. The play resumed, and GT needed 15 runs in just one over. MI faced a slow over penalty and had to bring a fielder inside the circle. Deepak Chahar was given the responsibility in front of Tewatia and Coetzee.
Tewatia managed five runs in the first two deliveries. Coetzee smashed a six in the very next ball. GT managed to score the winning run on the very last ball. They are at the top of the table and one step closer to qualification.
