The Debutants of the Indian Premier League
As the 17th Edition of the Indian Premier League begins on 22nd March lots of eyes will be on the debutants who will be taking part in IPL for the first time. IPL is known as the best platform for countries and franchises to scout players for their teams. Players like Pollard, Bumrah, Pandya, etc. also made their debuts in the league and went on to become the legends of the league.
Like every year this season also is full of some exciting new talents who are waiting to set the league on fire.
Rachin Ravindra – The star Kiwi all-rounder who had a wonderful 2023 ODI World Cup scoring 3 hundreds got picked by CSK in the auction for 1.80 crores. He was expected to go at a much higher price but CSK are known to play smart and bought them at a much cheaper price.
Gerald Coetzee – The South African pacer who showed his class in the recently concluded World Cup will be seen playing for the Mumbai Indians. MI bought him at a price of ₹ 5 crores. Coetzee is known for his aggressive brand of bowling and quick bouncers which helped him take 20 wickets in the World Cup. He will be bowling alongside Jasprit Bumrah and this duo is surely going to be a tough challenge for the batters.

Shamar Joseph – Shamar Joseph the West Indian fast bowler became a hero after the Gabba test match where he took 7 wickets in the 4th Innings and alone became the villain for the Aussies. Joseph was never in the plans of any franchises but his heroics got him a place in the mega league where he replaced Mark Wood at the Lucknow Super Giants. Wood was a crucial part of LSG’s unit after his exit Joseph will have a role to play in IPL.

Spencer Johnson – Australian left-arm fast bowler Spencer Johnson might not have made a big name at the international level but the scouts had their eyes on him. In the auction, Johnson was brought at a whopping price of ₹ 10 crores by Gujarat Titans. With multiple franchises bidding for him Johnson already has a lot to prove and with the absence of Mohd. Shami Johnson might get the role of lead pacer.

Sameer Rizvi – The Hard-Hitting batsman from Uttar Pradesh was on the bucket list of all the franchises in the auction. As a result, CSK ended up paying ₹ 8.4 crores for uncapped Sameer Rizvi. The reason behind this was his performance in the inaugural season of Uttar Pradesh T-20 where Rizvi scored 455 runs at an average of 50 and strike rate of 188 and smashed 2 hundreds. Rizvi is surely going to be an exciting talent to watch out for in this IPL.

Apart from these players, many other exciting debutants like Robin Minz, Kwena Maphaka, Shai Hope, Swastik Chikara, etc. are also going to be a part of the 17th edition of IPL.
