England made a Thrilling Victory over Australia in 2nd T20I
England team bounced back, after losing the opener in Southampton, in Cardiff and hammered Australia in the chase. Riding on the all-round brilliance of Liam Livingstone, England chased down 194 with six balls to spare.
England Wins the Toss Again:
Just like in Southampton, skipper Philip Salt was lucky with the toss and opted to bowl first. Similarly, Travis Head, who made his debut as captain in Southampton, continued to lead the Australian side as Mitchell Marsh missed out on the 2nd T20I.

Australian Batters Start Strong:
Australia’s batters had a solid start in the 2nd T20I as well. Both Matt Short and skipper Head played their strokes aggressively during the powerplay. Matt Short took on Reece Topley in the very first over, smashing him for 15 runs, while Head was his usual destructive self. Australia reached 51-0 after four overs, but Head was dismissed in the next over by Saqib Mahmood.
The innings was dominated by the top four Australian batters, all of whom scored heavily. Jake Fraser-McGurk was the top scorer with 50 off just 31 balls, while Josh Inglis contributed 42 off 26 balls. Australia posted a total of 193 in their allotted 20 overs, with Aaron Hardie and Cameron Green adding useful runs towards the end. Livingstone and Brydon Carse picked up two wickets each.

Livingstone: The Hero for England:
England had a mixed start to their chase. Skipper Salt dominated early on, hitting three sixes off Aaron Hardie in one over. However, Sean Abbott struck from the other end, dismissing Will Jacks and Jordan Cox in the same over, leaving England at 35-2 after four overs. Despite the loss of wickets, Livingstone joined Salt to mount a remarkable chase. The pair scored 29 off the next two overs, bringing England’s total to 67 by the end of the powerplay. Salt was dismissed in the 9th over by Matt Short.
Livingstone was then joined by Jacob Bethell, who played a career-best innings. Both batters took control and brought England closer to the target. None of the Australian bowlers could contain them, with the exception of Matt Short, who was the standout performer for Travis Head’s side, picking up five wickets and keeping Australia in the game. Despite this, England chased down the total in the 19th over. Liam Livingstone was the hero of the chase, scoring 87 off 47 balls, while Bethell contributed a solid 44 off 24 balls. Livingstone was deservedly awarded Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
Both teams will face off again on Sunday in Manchester for the series decider.
