Kane took the penalty and scored the equalizer. This was his third goal of the tournament.

English midfielders dominated the center of the park. Kobbie Mainoo won the ball from the opposition. Phil Foden returned to form and played well. His shot kissed the post and went out. Netherlands replaced Memphis Depay, who got injured 10 minutes before half-time.

The second half began with one change each for both camps. Luke Shaw came in for Southgate’s team, and Koeman introduced Weghorst to add more physicality to the attack. It looked like the match was heading for extra time until a moment of brilliance towards the end.
