Gujarat Titans Outshine KKR in a Thrilling IPL 2025 Match
Gujarat Titans secured yet another away victory in IPL 2025 with a dominant display against Kolkata Knight Riders, moving to the top of the table. Shubman Gill played a superb knock against his former side. KKR, who are the defending champions, have only won one out of the four matches played at their home ground this season.
Sai Sudarshan & Shubman Gill trouble another bowling unit
GT’s opening pair has troubled almost every opposition team this season. Sai Sudarshan has been the steadiest of the two. The top order has performed so much that the middle order doesn’t get enough chances to bat.

Once again, these two looked confident from the first ball. KKR bowlers were not allowing easy runs to the batters. They only gave away 45 runs in the powerplay. This is comparatively a low score according to Eden Gardens.
After settling, there was no stopping for these batters. Gill started to take charge at the bowlers, and soon, Sai Sudarshan joined the party. In the next six overs, GT scored over 10 runs per over. The first wicket partnership stood for 114 runs in 12.2 overs. Sai was the first player to get dismissed. Russell took the opening wicket for KKR.
Gujarat Titans to a huge total
Jos Buttler is another in-form batter for GT. He has been a consistent performer in IPL over the years. Fresh from a 90-run knock, Buttler joined Gill in the middle. These two created a 58-run stand for the second wicket. Gill was the aggressor between the two. GT’s captain was on 90 when he gave away his wicket. The opening batter took just 55 balls to reach this total. His 10 4s and three 6s came out of the middle of the bat.

After Gill’s wicket, Tewatia also fell on a duck. Shahrukh Khan played a few balls towards the end to take Gujarat to 198 for the loss of three wickets. Buttler remained not out on 41.
A poor start leads to a poor chase
KKR made one change at the top by bringing in Rahmanullah Gurbaz for Quinton De Kock. This change made no difference to their struggles at the top. Siraj took just five balls to dismiss the Afghan opener. Rahane and Narine added a few runs for the second wicket until Rashid Khan came to remove Narine in the last powerplay over.
The home team also made 45 runs in the powerplay but lost two wickets. Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer tried to create some momentum, but some good spin bowling restricted them from scoring freely. Iyer struggled in the partnership, which stood for six overs and only added 41 runs. He scored 14 runs in 19 balls before getting out to Sai Kishore.
Rahane scored a half-century to continue his good run. The rest of the batters struggled to score big runs as the pressure was higher and the number of balls was lower. KKR fell short by 39 runs. Rashid and Krishna took two wickets each in the match. Sai Sudarshan regained the orange cap, and Prasidh Krishna is the purple cap holder.
