RCB And MI reign supreme in IPL 2025 revenge week
RCB kicked off the reverse fixtures in the second phase of the Indian Premier League 2025. They faced PBKS once again, with both teams meeting on Friday and then returning to action on Sunday in a doubleheader. As the tournament progresses, familiar rivalries are reigniting. MI also hosted CSK, looking to bounce back after their earlier loss at Chepauk.
RCB complete revenge against Punjab
PBKS and RCB played a 14-over contest in Bangalore on Friday. The team from North emerged victorious. Both teams met in Chandigarh after just a one-day break. RCB decided to chase after winning the toss.
Arya and Prabhsimran provided a strong start for the home team. Both created a 42-run stand for the first wicket. Krunal Pandya brought his team back into the game by dismissing both the openers. He then caught Shreyas Iyer on the bowling of Romario Shepherd, who replaced the out-of-form Liam Livingstone. Nehal Wadhera’s wicket came at a crucial moment. A mix-up between him and Josh Inglis left Punjab on 76 for four in nine overs.

Suyash Sharma has been bowling well in recent matches. His accuracy has been a key to his success. The leggie got Inglis with a superb leg spinner. He then dismissed the out of form Marcus Stoinis in the very same over. PBKS were again in a spot of bother. They only had 114 runs on the board with six overs remaining. Shashank and Jansen took the home team to 157 runs.
Salt went early in the chase. However, Kohli and Padikkal had some other plans. After missing out in the last match, Padikkal smashed 61 runs. He, along with Kohli, took charge of the Punjab bowlers. Kohli remained not out on 73 and took his team over the line with seven wickets and the same number of balls in hand.
Rohit & Surya sink CSK
CSK has been the most underperforming team in this year’s tournament. They continued their poor run in the tournament with a nine-wicket loss against the Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav chased a below-par total with just over four overs remaining.

Dhoni’s men were asked to bat. Their powerplay struggles continued as Rachin was dismissed in the third over. Then came a 17-year-old boy from Mumbai. Ayush Mhatre announced himself in style with a 32-run knock in 15 balls. His four 4s and two 6s were the highlights of a superb innings. Shaik Rasheed struggled to score at a good pace.
Jaddu and Dube created a 79-run stand for the fourth wicket. Both players ended up scoring half-centuries. Jaddu stayed till the end, but some superb bowling by Bumrah restricted the team in yellow to 176.
Rohit and Rickelton stood on the wicket for 63 runs. Then came Surya, and both Mumbai batters chased the target with ease. Rohit scored 76 runs in 45 balls and smashed six 6s. Surya played a superb knock of 68 in just 30 balls. This win takes MI into sixth place and leaves CSK at the bottom of the table.
