This high-scoring match was full of big moments from some of the best players in the game. But one set of players was too good against their opponents. Hansi Flick’s team dominated Real Madrid and took advantage of a weak defense.
Barcelona: The epic comeback in the first half
It was a bright start for Hansi Flick’s side. They created a couple of chances in the opening minutes but were unable to get past Thibaut Courtois in goal. Real Madrid launched a quick counter in the fifth minute. Vinicius Jr. found Kylian Mbappe in Barcelona’s half. The Frenchman took on the defenders and comfortably slotted the ball past Wojciech Szczesny in goal to give Ancelotti’s men an early advantage.
Barcelona were behind but were looking like the better side. Youngster Lamine Yamal brought them back into the game in the 22nd minute. Robert Lewandowski opened Real Madrid’s defence and the youngster cooly scored the goal past Courtois.
In the 36th minute, Eduardo Camavinga carelessly fouled Gavi and Barcelona was awarded a penalty. Lewandowski stepped up to score Barca’s second of the night. Flick’s men were not putting an end to the goal-scoring form. Barcelona won the ball and Jules Kounde delivered a cross into the box. Raphinha ran between two defenders and headed the ball past Courtois to give his side a 4-1 lead.
The referee added nine minutes of injury time at the end of the half. Real Madrid won a corner in the last minute. They failed to execute their plan and were hit on the counter. Raphinha found Alejandro Balde, who showed composure and extended Barcelona’s lead. The score was 4-1 at the end of the first half.

Raphinha’s nets a brace
Real Madrid were down but not out of the game. Ancelotti replaced Camavinga with Dani Ceballos. Madrid created a chance down the left but Rogrygo was denied by the crossbar. Barcelona created a chance soon after that.

10-man Barca secure Supercopa de Espana 2025
Barcelona already had one hand on the trophy with a four-goal advantage. However, there was still something left in the game. Real Madrid launched an attack and Kylian Mbappe was through on goal. Wojciech Szczesny came out of the box and caught Mbappe with his foot. The referee gave no foul at that time but changed the decision after checking with the VAR. Szczesny was sent off in the 56th minute and Rodrygo scored from the resulting free-kick.
The deficit was reduced to three goals. Barcelona defended well and held on to their lead for more than 30 minutes with 10 players.
