AC Milan Eyes Sixth Cup After Stunning Inter in Semifinal
AC Milan might find it difficult to qualify for Europe through league standings. After making a poor start to the season, the Rossoneri are back in form. Under Sergio Conceicao, the team has returned to winning ways. The Portuguese manager has found a way to take his team to Europe next season. AC Milan have reached the final of the Coppa Italia following a win over their arch-rivals, Inter Milan. The Rossoneri managed to win a two-legged tie 4-1 to book their place in the domestic cup final.
Build up to the second leg
Both Milan teams share the same stadium for their home matches. AC Milan were undefeated in the last three meetings before the semi-final was played. This was a confidence booster for a side against a much better-organised team, Inter Milan.

The first leg saw a defensive side of both teams. Inter Milan were dominant with the ball. They created more chances despite being the away side. However, it was Tammy Abraham who struck first. Milan were in the lead early in the second half. Inter responded 20 minutes after conceding. Hakan Calhanoglu levelled the tie and took it to a decider in the second leg.
Dominance in the second leg
Inter Milan were active in the race for the treble before the second leg. They lead the league table and also made it to the last four in the Champions League. This was a chance to keep their treble hopes alive. However, Milan had some other plans and were hoping to end this poor season on a high.
Luka Jovic gave his side the lead in the first half. This was the only goal scored in the first 45. Inter created more chances but failed to find the back of the net.

Milan started the second half in better fashion. They doubled the lead in the 49th minute after Jovic scored his second goal of the night. The Serbian has struggled for gametime, and this was a perfect way to show the manager what he is capable of. Inter were under a lot of pressure and needed a response. Instead, Milan scored the third goal to seal the tie. Tijani Reijnders netted his 15th goal of the season to send his side to the final.
AC Milan Set for Final Showdown with In-Form Bologna
Bologna and Empoli are the other two teams that made it to the last four of the Coppa Italia 2024-25. It was an easy tie for Bologna, who are sitting comfortably in the top four in Serie A. Empoli, who are struggling and battling relegation. Bologna took a massive 3-0 lead in the first leg. They are likely to advance to the finals, where they will face AC Milan.
AC Milan is hunting for its sixth domestic cup and the first since the 2002-03 season. Bologna has won this competition twice, but its last win came in 1974. A win in the final will be a perfect reward for the good football this team has played in the last couple of seasons.
