PSG make epic 4-2 comeback against Manchester City
PSG completed an epic comeback against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League 2024-25. The French side won 4-2 against the English champions in an all-important match for both sides. This win takes PSG above Manchester City in the table.
Clash of tactical masterclass
Pep Guardiola was up against his former teammate Luis Enrique. These two have played together at Barcelona and for Spain. Enrique succeeded Guardiola at Barcelona and was the assistant coach of Barcelona B during Pep’s reign. Both managers had a few similarities in their gameplay.

PSG played without a renowned No. 9. Lee Kang-in started in the center and was supported by Barcola and Desire Doue. Pep Guardiola also named a strong starting 11. Matheus Nunes played as the right-back for the away side.
PSG dominated goalless first-half
PSG held 64% of the ball possession in the first half. The French side looked comfortable on a rainy night in Paris. This led to eight shots, with three of them on target. Manchester City were not going to back down and attempted four shots of their own. Pep’s side also managed to hit the target three times. It was end-to-end stuff but the goalkeepers stood tall and prevented the opposition from scoring. This was also the beginning of a blockbuster second half.

Early momentum for Manchester City
Pep Guardiola delivered a solid half-time talk and those showed results. Within the first five minutes, Jack Grealish scored the game’s opener. Bernardo Silva’s shot was saved by Donnarumma but the ball landed in Grealish’s feat. He converted an easy chance after coming off the bench in place of Savinho.
Erling Haaland also registered his name on the scoresheet. This time Grealish was the creator. His deflected pass found the tall Norwegian and he converted his sixth goal in the Champions League this season. PSG were trailing 2-0 after 50th and 53rd-minute strikes by the away side.

PSG hit four past Ederson
Pep’s side triggered the home team. Ousmane Dembele has developed a lot under Enrique. He started the comeback within five minutes after conceding the second. Bradley Barcola created the goal for his teammate in the 56th minute.

Four minutes later, Desire Doue’s shot struck the crossbar. The rebound fell at the feet of Bradley Barcola, who slotted the ball past Ederson in goal. PSG was back in the game and looked much better team with just 30 minutes remaining.
Dembele tried to give the lead in the 70th minute but he was denied by the post. This added more confidence in PSG’s youngsters. Joao Neves dominated the center of the park throughout the match. He was rewarded with a goal in the 78th minute. Vitinha’s free-kick found Neves unmarked at the back post. He scored the fifth goal of the evening.
Goncalo Ramos wrapped up the match with a goal in added time. After a lengthy VAR check, the Portuguese forward was rewarded with a goal.
Manchester City needs a win to make it to the UCL play-offs. PSG have strengthened their chances after a win.
