Shaky start for the home team
CSK has struggled at the top of the innings. They have tried a few options, but none of them have prevailed. In the last couple of matches, they have stuck with the young pair of Shaik Rasheed and Ayush Mhatre. These two had a huge task in hand against experienced PBKS bowlers. Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen got the better off these two by removing them inside the first four overs. Jaddu stepped up but failed to score a big score. CSK were three wickets down inside the powerplay.
PBKS: Sam Curran saves the day
Former PBKS player Sam Curran played his best knock in the IPL. The Englishman has been given a new role by the team. After Jaddu’s dismissal, Curran created a 78-run stand with Brevis. Curran was the aggressor between the two. He scored 88 runs in just 47 balls. Brevis also added 32 runs to the total. CSK ended the match with 190 runs on the board.
Chahal’s second IPL hat-trick
CSK were heading to a huge total of 200. This would have been an above-par total at this ground. However, everything changed when Curran got out. CSK were 172 for five with 14 balls remaining on Curran’s dismissal. Chahal bowled the 19th over and changed the game. He took his second hat-trick in IPL. Chahal went on to take four wickets in that over and restricted CSK.
Iyer, Prabhsimran help PBKS in big chase
CSK bowlers failed to give their team a good start. The opening duo of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh added 44 runs for the first wicket. This start added momentum to the chase. Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh took charge of the CSK bowlers. These two added 72 runs for the second wicket. Prabhsimran scored a superb 50 before getting out in the 13th over.

Nehal Wadhera was dismissed in single figures. Shashank Singh and Shreyas created a match-winning partnership of 44 runs in just 18 balls. This partnership swung the match in PBKS’ favour. Shreyas was unable to stay at the crease till the end, but his knock proved to be the most crucial one. He scored 72 runs in just 41 balls and helped his side to a massive win. PBKS chased the target with four wickets and two balls remaining. After a no-result against KKR, this was a big win for the team from the North.
