India made a Historic 7 Wicket Victory Over England
India has taken the lead against England in the ODI series. Suryakumar Yadav and his men earned a comfortable seven-wicket win against Jos Buttler and Co. India won the toss and decided to bat first. The match was held at Eden Gardens and the crowd was ready for a big score.
Arshdeep Singh dismantles top-order
England made a very poor start to their innings. In just the third ball of the match, Philip Salt was sent to the pavilion by Arshdeep Singh for a duck. Arshdeep then gave another breakthrough in his second over. He took out the dangerous Ben Duckett. England was in all sorts of trouble but they had a long batting line-up.

Varun Chakravarthy’s show
Varun has performed well in the IPL and has earned opportunities to represent the nation. He is a wicket-to-wicket bowler. Chakravarthy was into the wickets in just his second over. The KKR spinner got the crucial wicket of Harry Brook. After two balls, he sent Liam Livingstone to the dressing room with a special delivery. England was struggling to score against Varun’s trickery.
Buttler scored 50 but others struggle
Jos Buttler saw wickets falling at the other end. He was knocking the ball around and adding runs to the team’s total. England’s captain made 68 runs and this was more than 50% contribution to the team’s total. Other batters struggled to even get into the double figures.

The duo of Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel took a couple of wickets each and restricted the English team to a low total of 132 runs.
India: Decent opening partnership but Captain fails
The visitors needed some early wickets to get them back into the game. Sanju Samson opened the innings alongside Abhishek Sharma. Both players started decently with Sanju taking most of the strike. He scored 26 runs before getting dismissed. The score was 41 for 1. India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav came in and only stayed for three balls. He was dismissed for a duck. Jofra Archer got two wickets in one over and handed the momentum to the English side.
Abhishek Sharma hits massive sixes
Abhishek Sharma had faced only six balls when both batsmen got out. He has been in sensational form in the last two seasons. This was his chance to entertain the crowd and confirm his opening spot for a long run. The left-hander didn’t disappoint. He scored 79 runs in just 34 balls with a strike rate of 232. The Punjab opener smashed the bowlers by hitting eight sixes and five fours. After losing the first two wickets, India scored 84 runs in just seven overs. Sharma gave away his wicket to Adil Rashid when India required eight runs in as many overs.
India leads the five-match T20I series 1-0. These two teams will now meet in Chennai for the second match. England will look to boost their bowling options by adding Rehan Ahmed. India is unlikely to make any changes and will look to take a 2-0 lead.
