Delhi Capitals win The First super over of IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals returned to winning ways following their win over Rajasthan Royals. These two teams were evenly matched, and the match eventually had to go to a super over. Mitchell Starc bowled a superb over, and Delhi batters were able to chase the target. This was the first super over of the season.

 DC moved to the top of the table with this win. Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, are struggling and have suffered their third consecutive defeat. They are down in eighth position after playing seven matches.

Another poor outing for Fraser-McGurk

DC might be forced to change their opening pair after this game. Jake Fraser-McGurk once again failed to put a good total on the board. The Aussie opener got out on nine runs. His footwork has been an issue. Looking at the current situation, Delhi will be waiting for Faf’s return. Karun Nair also failed to impress after a good knock against Mumbai. He was run out on a duck.

The middle order saves the day

Abhishek Porel and KL Rahul stood at the crease for 63 runs. However, the partnership was slow as they averaged just over six runs per over. KL played a slow innings of 38 in 32 balls. Porel also struggled to time the ball towards the end. He fell one short of his fifty.

Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel played good cameos. DC’s captain scored 34 in 14 balls, and Stubbs scored the same total in 18 balls. They took DC to a respectable total of 188. Jofra Archer took two wickets in the innings.

Early charge by RR

Rajasthan Royals knew that they needed a good powerplay to chase this big total. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson took charge at the bowlers. These two were playing well, but RR lost Sanju Samson due to an injury. The skipper was forced to leave the field on 31. Riyan Parag joined Jaiswal, but his stay was cut short by Axar Patel.

Jaiswal and Rana stood at the crease. These two came out with good intentions. Kuldeep ended Jaiswal’s stay on 51. RR slowed down a bit due to some good spin bowling by DC bowlers. Rana continued his aggression and scored a quick fifty. He was dismissed on 51 by Mitchell Starc.

Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer were given the responsibility to chase. However, some poor running by the batters took the game into a super over.

Delhi Capital keeps nerve in super over

Delhi handed the ball to their most experienced player, Mitchell Starc. Hetmyer and Parag were given the responsibility to bat. After posting nine runs on the board in just three balls, Parag was run out while taking a double. In the very next ball, Jaiswal was run out while attempting a double. RR posted 11 runs on the board.

Sandeep Sharma has shown some nerve in death overs. He was RR’s go-to man. However, KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs took just four balls to finish the match. DC won the match in a super over.
