Australia closing on test series win against West Indies
Australia is touring the West Indies for a three-match Test series. The team from down under took a 1-0 lead following their win in the first match. Bowlers have shown domination in all innings played so far. Batsmen have struggled to cope with the pace and bounce. These two teams are currently playing the second test in Grenada. Australia opted to bat and at the end of day 2, they are batting for the second time.
The middle order takes Australia to a respectable total
Steve Smith returned to the team after missing the first match. The Aussies made their best start for the opening wicket in this series. Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja added 47 runs for the first wicket.
Khawaja was the first one to go and Konstas followed him in the very next over. Smith’s return was cut short on three runs by Alzarri Joseph. From 47 for no wicket, Australia were 50 for three. Cameron Green and Travis Head played cameo roles but were unable to get past 30 runs. Australia needed a big score from the remaining batters.
Alex Carey and Beau Webster created a 112-run stand for the sixth wicket. Both players managed to reach their fifties. Australia posted 286 runs in the first innings. Carey was the highest scorer with 63, and Webster scored 60. Alzarri Joseph took four wickets for the home team.
King shines, but the rest fail for Windies
West Indies batters have shown more signs of struggle against the experienced bowling line-up of Australia. They lost the first wicket on seven. Opener John Campbell battled at the start with a 40-run knock. Carty fell early, and Brandon King came when the score was 40 for 2.

King held the innings with a superb 75-run knock. The rest of the batters failed to score big but King held his nerve and tackled the bowlers. West Indies bowlers chipped in with a few runs towards the end. Many players got start, but none of them were able to get past 30. Alzarri and Shamar added 27 and 29 runs each. This helped the West Indies to post 253 runs on the board in their first innings.

Nathan Lyon took three wickets in the innings. After getting the dangerous King, he got two wickets towards the end to restrict West Indies. Hazelwood and Cummins took two wickets each. Head, Webster and Starc were also among the wickets. Australia led by 33 runs at the end of the first innings.
Australia: Another opening failure
Australia won’t be happy with how day 2 ended for them. They played six overs but lost both openers in the process. Konstas continues to struggle as he was bowled in the fourth ball of the innings for a duck. Jayden Seales brought the match back in the West Indies’ favour by dismissing Khawaja in the third over of the innings. Australia is 12 for two at the end of day 2. Cameron Green is playing with night watchman Nathan Lyon. Seales has two wickets in his bag.
