SRH Sink to Bottom as Gill, Sundar Seal Titans’ Victory

SRH endured another bad day at the office, suffering their fourth consecutive loss of the season against the Gujarat Titans. Last year’s runners-up now find themselves at the bottom of the IPL 2025 table. In contrast, Shubman Gill led the Titans to back-to-back wins, pushing them up to second place.

GT headed into this game with a big win over RCB. Titans lost their opening encounter and haven’t looked back since then. They are now second, with six points in four games. SRH, on the other hand, are struggling with just one win in five games. This was their first defeat at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

SRH: Another batting struggle for the team in orange

Sunrisers Hyderabad has been a very attacking team. They have dominated bowlers with the bat, especially at home. However, this has been a different season from the previous one. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have struggled to give their side a positive start. Head went in the first over, and Abhishek just scored 18 runs in his innings.

It was another poor day for Ishan Kishan. The surface was slow, and GT bowlers gave no pace to these hard hitters. Nitish Reddy and Klaasen tried to steady the innings, but both players failed to convert their starts. Reddy scored 31 runs in 34 balls, and Klaasen added 27 runs to the total. SRH posted 152 runs on the board for the loss of 8 wickets.

Big homecoming for Siraj

Mohammed Siraj was impressive with the ball. The Hyderabadi fast bowler was all over the SRH batters. He bowled three overs in the powerplay and got both the openers. The 31-year-old returned for his final over and took two more wickets. He finished with four wickets and only gave away 17 runs. Slow balls were a big part of his success against the men in orange.

Gujarat needed a low total, but the wicket was a bit tricky. They also lost their first wicket early. Sai Sudarshan failed to show his magic in this game. Shami gave SRH an early breakthrough. Buttler’s stay was cut short by Cummins. The Englishman was dismissed without troubling the score.

Shubman leads the chase with Washi

Shubman Gill needed a partner, and he found one in Washington Sundar. The all-rounder was brought in the team but wasn’t allowed to bowl. Instead, he was promoted in the batting order, which paid off for the visiting team. The duo added 90 runs for the third wicket in just 56 balls. Sundar played a cameo of 49 runs in just 29 balls. Gill continued his stay at the crease.

Sherfane Rutherford joined his captain in the middle. He scored a quickfire 35 off just 16 balls. Gill remained not out on 61 as Gujarat chased the target with 3.2 overs to spare. Shami took two wickets, and Cummins took one wicket. The rest of the bowlers struggled in SRH’s fourth consecutive defeat.
