IPL 2025: DC, RR Secure Big Victories Away from Home
IPL 2025 brought a day full of upsets for the home teams. A double-header Saturday began with Chennai Super Kings facing Delhi Capitals at the Chepauk Stadium. Later, the Punjab Kings hosted their first home match against the Rajasthan Royals. However, both home sides suffered heavy defeats.
IPL 2025: Chennai loses three in a row
CSK started their campaign with a win over Mumbai Indians. They were looking to carry this run, but three straight defeats have cost the men in yellow. Delhi Capitals was the latest team that defeat CSK.

It was a day game on a spin-friendly surface. Axar Patel chose to bat, but Delhi were one wicket down in the first over. Jake Fraser-McGurk continues to struggle and was out without scoring any runs. KL Rahul opened the innings in the absence of Faf du Plessis. He, along with Abhishek Porel, created a 50-run stand for the second wicket. Porel was the aggressor between the two.
KL Rahul leads Delhi’s charge
KL Rahul showed his class and played a brilliant knock of 77 runs in just 51 deliveries. A few cameos from other DC players took their total to 183 for the loss of six wickets. Khaleel Ahmed was the most impressive bowler. He finished with the figures of two for 25 in four overs.
CSK’s batters have struggled to find consistency. The opening pair was changed for this match. Devon Conway was introduced in place of Rahul Tripathi. CSK batters were unable to provide a good start. They were three wickets down in the powerplay. Vijay Shankar stayed at the wicket but played a slow inning. He scored 69 runs in 54 balls. Vipraj Nigam took two wickets for just 27 runs. DC won the match by 25 runs.
Punjab Kings suffer first defeat of the season
Rajasthan Royals broke the hearts of Punjab fans with a 50-run win at Chandigarh. It was a tough day in the office for PBKS batters and bowlers in their first home match. Shreyas Iyer decided to bowl, and Rajasthan took advantage of the situation.

Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to form with a 67-run knock. He and Sanju Samson scored 89 runs for the first wicket. Riyan Parag played a superb cameo of 43 in just 25 balls. Sanju was back, captaining the side. He also scored 38 runs in 26 deliveries.
Archer’s fiery spell sinks Punjab
RR managed to put 205 runs on the board for the loss of four wickets. The total was huge, but Punjab had a deep batting lineup. The batting struggled more than the bowling. Priyansh Arya was unable to handle Archer’s pace and was bowled on the very first ball. Skipper Shreyas took charge at the Englishman but gave his wicket in the very same over.
Marcus Stoinis and Prabhsimran also failed to make their mark. Nehal Wadhera gave some hope with a 62-run knock. Glenn Maxwell scored 30 runs but was not looking like his best. The PBKS batter only managed to score 155 runs. Archer took three wickets, and Sandeep Sharma took two wickets against his former side.
