Real Madrid Victory Over Atalanta: The Magic in UEFA Cup

Real Madrid began their season with style after winning the UEFA Super Cup 2-0 against Atalanta. Kylian Mbappe led the attack for the Los Blancos and scored on his competitive debut for the new club. The Spanish side won their sixth Super Cup title. This match is played between the winners of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. The venue for this match was the Kazimierz Gorski National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland.

Real Madrid – Mbappe leads the line

Carlo Ancelotti had no selection headaches. He has some of the best young players in his team. Kylian Mbappe started as the No. 9 and was supported by the Brazilian duo of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. Jude Bellingham was in charge of the midfield along with Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde. Thibaut Courtois was in goal. Dani Carval, Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, and Ferland Mendy completed the back four.

Musso was in goal for Atalanta. Kolasinac, Hien, and Djimsiti were the three center-backs for the UEFA Europa League winners. Ruggeri and Zappacosta played as the wing-backs. Ederson and De Roon sat in front of the back three. Ademola Lookman and De Ketelaere led the line ahead of Pasalic.

Goalless first 45

Real Madrid have struggled a bit in breaking their opponents in the first half. They played in a new formation. With plenty of pace in the attack, the team focuses on breaking the opponent. Atalanta controlled the ball in the first half but failed to threaten Courtois in goal.

Real Madrid controlling the second 45

The Spanish team comes with a different energy in the second half. They often find the weakness in the opposition and try to exploit it. Jude Bellingham was the main creator of the team. Real Madrid focused their attack on the left side. Bellingham was taking good positions in the final third.

Vinicius Junior was the creator of the first goal. On the brink of the 60th-minute mark, the Brazilian showed his magic and delivered a low cross into the six-yard box. Valverde was alone in the attacking zone and converted the chance. The Uruguayan opened his account for the season.

Real Attack continues

Real Madrid was continuously attacking in the second half. Bellingham was constantly finding empty spaces in the final third. He made a run towards the left side inside the box. Mbappe was continuously trying to link with the Englishman.

In the 68^th minute, Bellingham attracted a few defenders towards him. Vinicius and Rodrygo made runs to take the defenders with them. Mbappe found some open space inside the box. Bellingham found his new teammate and the Frenchman found the top corner of the net. Kylian Mbappe opened his Real Madrid account in style.

Most Decorated Player

This win adds another trophy to Real Madrid’s elite cabinet. Luka Modric also became the most decorated player in the club’s history with 27 titles to his name. Real Madrid will once again be a team to watch out for in the 2024-25 season.
