Manav Suthar: The Man behind India C’s Epic Victory
Manav Suthar, with his phenomenal bowling helped India C clinch a thrilling four-wicket victory against India D in the opening round of the Duleep Trophy. Aggressive batting by Ruturaj Gaikwad, Aryan Juyal, and Rajat Patidar added the fuel. It was an entertaining contest with thrilling twists and turns where India C’s ability to withstand tension made all the difference.
Defying the Odds
Heading into the Duleep Trophy tournament, India C was considered an underdog compared to the other teams. However, the team showed remarkable character and resilience in this match. After a slim lead of just four runs in the first innings, India C bowled exceptionally well in the second innings. By the end of Day 2, they had reduced India D to 206/8.

Manav Suthar: Bowling Brilliance
India D resumed on 206/8 but added only 30 more runs before being all out for 236. Manav Suthar was outstanding as he removed two last batsmen to reach an astonishing figure of 7/49 in his spell. Out of 18.4 overs, he bowled seven maidens. The young left-arm spinner showed excellent control and variety, overwhelming the opponent.
Chasing a Daunting Target
Chasing a daunting target of 233 runs, India C started well with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sai Sudharsan forming a steady partnership. In just 11.1 overs, they created the perfect platform for successful run-chase by making 64 runs together in totality. However, Saransh Jain had other plans, being the main weapon in India D’s bowling attack. He dismissed Sudharsan then went ahead to claim three other scalps, preventing a loss at that moment for his team.

A Steadying Partnership
Yet, despite losing wickets at crucial moments, India C kept up their pursuit without giving in. However, Aryan Juyal played a vital role by partnering with Rajat Patidar to form an 88-run partnership. This provided stability to the India C innings. Even when Patidar got out, the momentum did not break as Juyal and Abhishek Porel continued to put pressure on India D’s bowlers.

Final Push to Victory
The glimmer of hope for India D came when Arshdeep Singh dismissed Juyal. However, Porel’s unbeaten 35 ensured India C remained in full control of the match. Towards the end, Manav Suthar, who had already made his mark with the ball, contributed valuable runs to stay unbeaten alongside Porel. In the last overs, he was very aggressive and left India D with a difficult situation.
India C eventually chased down the target in just 61 overs to earn six points on day three. The victory showcased the team’s depth and balance, with both batters and bowlers stepping up when it mattered most. The match proved the team’s fighting spirit under Ruturaj Gaikwad and their ability to handle pressure situations effectively.
