Gill, Jadeja And Sundar Script Epic Draw In Manchester

Gill, Jadeja, Sundar, and the Indian team held firm as the drama in Manchester ended with a draw in the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. A lot of drama unfolded on the fifth day of this test match. Indian batters kept their nerve till the end to earn a massive draw against the hosts. Three batters scored a century to take this series to the final match.

India were asked to bat and they posted a decent total in the first innings. Half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudarshan, and Rishabh Pant helped India to 358. England gave a big response by scoring 669 in their first innings.

Joe Root and Ben Stokes got to the triple figures. Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett missed out on a well-deserved 100. With five sessions remaining, England had the game in their favour. The lead was massive, but Indian batters had some other plans. Despite losing two wickets in the first over, India managed to save the match. Three centurions and a brilliant knock by KL Rahul led to this result.

Gill looks poised to break more records.

Shubman Gill’s career as the captain of the Indian cricket team started with a loss. However, he managed to turn around the tie with a one-man show in the next match. Gill has been superb throughout the series. The pressure of captaincy cannot be seen in his batting. He is the highest run scorer in the current series with 722 runs already. This is the third time that an Indian batter has managed to get past the 700 mark.

Shubman has recorded four centuries in this series. Only five batters had managed to reach this feat before Gill. As the series is entering its final match, Gill has a chance to break Sunil Gavaskar’s long-standing record of 774 runs in a test series.

Sundar reaches first ton, Jadeja continues good form

Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja played a key role in getting a draw for their team. KL Rahul and Gill batted for more than two sessions. These two played 417 balls. After their dismissals, Sundar and Jaddu were sent to bat. This epic partnership lasted for 334 balls, and these two added 203 runs.

There was a big controversy towards the end. Sundar and Jadeja were nearing their 100, but Ben Stokes asked them to shake their hands and leave the field. However, it is a decision made by both teams, and these two refused to shake hands. England tried all their tactics to pressure these two, but they managed to reach the three-figure mark.

Washington Sundar scored his maiden Test century. Jadeja has been superb throughout the series. He had four half-centuries and missed out on a big score in the last match. The all-rounder scored his first ton in this series and took his total to 454.

Ben Stokes played a crucial role in this match by eliminating five batters in the first innings and scoring a ton. However, his injury in the second innings restricted him to just 11 overs. Now, the pressure is on this English side to defend their lead. This was the second time that England had recorded a draw in this BazBall era. Both sides will be eyeing a win to conclude this dramatic test series.
