Cameron Green: Bowling Leads to Scotland’s Batting Collapse
Green’s bowling was the key factor in Scotland’s batting collapse The Scotsman put up a few fights, but he never truly threatened with game-changing partnerships. Brandon McMullen was again impressive, scoring his third half-century in four games against Australia, but lacked company. Scotland’s total of 149 for 9 seemed underwhelming, especially against a team with Australia’s batting depth.
Scotland Shows Early Fight in Australia’s Chase
Scotland, however, did fight it out. Brad Currie struck early in Australia’s chase to make things interesting for the latter with two big wickets. He removed Jake Fraser-McGurk for a duck in the second over,Currie struck in his next over, too, as Travis Headout to long-on to have the Australians at 16 for 2. For the second time in the series, in fact, Currie took out both openers in quick succession to give Scotland a whiff of hope. But Australia cleaned things up pretty quickly.

Marsh and Green Steady the Ship
Mitchell Marsh, promoted back to No. 3 having been shuffled down the order a game ago, combined with Cameron Green to stabilize the innings. The two shared in a valuable 61-run partnership taking the back-seat of the match. There was some early movement for Scotland’s bowlers but Marsh and Green batted sensibly, rotating the strike and punished any loose deliveries.

Finally, Jack Jarvis broke the partnership, bowling Marsh for 39 as the latter tried to pull a slower delivery that stuck in the pitch, chopped onto the stumps. But by then, Australia was in a commanding position. Green remained aggressive, while Tim David too joined the quick runs, hitting a couple of sixes.

Cameron Green: All-Round Brilliance Seals the Series
Green had reached his half-century off just 33 balls, testimony of is sensible approach. Sole dismissed David for 19 with a slower short ball, leaving Australia needing only 19 more runs from 34 balls to complete the chase. Green whacked Watt over the ropes once again before Aaron Hardie sealed the win for Australia with a crisp square drive to the boundary. Cameron Green’s all-round skills were, however, the real difference-maker. His career-best bowling and highest score with the bat influenced and helped the Aussie crew get an overall 3-0 sweep against Scotland.
While Scotland had their moments, particularly with Currie’s early strikes, Australia’s superior depth and Green brilliance proved a little too much. The series has furthered his claim as a key player for Australia moving forward, while Scotland, despite individual performances from McMullen and Currie, will be ruing missed opportunities.
