Hockey Haryana and Maharashtra Shine in National Championship Semi-Finals

At the Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium in Pune, the 14th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship semi-finals were a treat for hockey fans. Hockey Haryana and Hockey Maharashtra won their games to reach the final, promising an exciting match-up ahead.
Hockey Haryana’s Strong Win
Hockey Haryana and Hockey Jharkhand played hard from the start, but no goals were scored in the first quarter. The game was tense, with both teams defending well. Haryana had a chance to score from a penalty corner but couldn’t get past Jharkhand’s defense.
In the second quarter, Haryana picked up the pace. They kept the ball mostly to themselves and finally scored when Navneet Kaur, a player from the Indian national team, hit the ball into the net. At halftime, Haryana led 1-0.
Jharkhand tried to come back in the third quarter but couldn’t keep Haryana from scoring two more goals. Jyoti and Sharmila Devi, both national team players, scored one goal each for Haryana, making it 3-0. Jharkhand had a chance with a penalty corner right before the quarter ended but missed it.
The last quarter saw Jharkhand pushing forward, but Haryana’s defense was too good, stopping any goals. Haryana got another penalty corner and Deepika scored, making it 4-0. Haryana won the match and moved on to the final.
Maharashtra’s Thrilling Victory Over Madhya Pradesh
The second semi-final was between the host team Maharashtra and the defending champions, Madhya Pradesh. The first quarter was quiet with no goals. Near the end of the second quarter, Madhya Pradesh’s Hritika Singh scored from a penalty corner, giving her team a 1-0 lead.
Maharashtra tried to score in the third quarter but couldn’t. Madhya Pradesh also missed some chances to increase their lead, so the score stayed 1-0.
In the final quarter, Maharashtra turned up the heat. With just over eight minutes left, Akansha Singh scored from a penalty corner, tying the game at 1-1. Just when it looked like the match might go to a penalty shoot-out, Kajal Sadashiv Atpadkar scored a field goal for Maharashtra, making it 2-1. Maharashtra held on to this lead and won the match, setting up a final against Haryana.
Final and Third-Place Matches Await
The excitement isn’t over yet. Hockey Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh will play for third place at 3 pm on March 23rd. Then, the big final between Hockey Haryana and Hockey Maharashtra will happen at 7 pm. Hockey fans are in for a fantastic day of matches as these teams battle for the championship title.
