Borussia Dortmund needed a win against Ulsan Hyundai to confirm the top spot. The German club was looking to confirm its place in the last 16 after Bayern Munich did it on the previous night. Summer signing Daniel Svensson made the difference during the match. He scored the only goal of the game in the 36th minute. Dortmund managed to hit the target on 11 occasions, but only one managed to get past the South Korean goalkeeper. A 1-0 scoreline was enough to confirm a spot in the last 16.
Inter knocked out River Plate
Inter Milan and River Plate went head-to-head in their final group encounter. A win for either side would have confirmed a knockout berth. Inter are playing under new manager Cristian Chivu. His team was creating chances, but none of them were troubling the goalkeeper. Inter were given a huge hope when River Plate were reduced to 10 men in the 66th minute.
19-year-old Francesco Pio Esposito took full advantage of the deficit and gave his side the lead in the 72nd minute. Inter got another goal through Bastoni in added time. River Plate were reduced to nine men after Gonzalo Montiel received his second yellow of the night. Inter topped the group ahead of Monterrey. Both Argentinian clubs have been eliminated from the competition.

Monterrey ended the group stage with a 4-0 win over Urawa Red Diamonds. Sergio Ramos captains this Mexican side and has played a huge role in their success. He will be eyeing a sixth Club World Cup title.
