EPL 2024-25 Wrap: Who Made It to the Champions League?
EPL 2024-25 campaign has finally ended. Liverpool had already won the league, but the race was still on for UCL spots. The Premier League was awarded five spots for the Champions League for the next campaign. Liverpool’s win had already booked their place in the European competition. Arsenal also ensured their place after finishing second. With three places remaining, the race was still on between five teams.
Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest were the five teams fighting for a Champions League spot. Here is how the campaign ended for these sides.
EPL 2024-25: Man City finish behind Arsenal
Manchester City pick up form in the second half of the season. However, injuries didn’t help them in the 2024-25 campaign. The team struggled and failed to win any trophies. This was a new low in Pep’s career.
Fulham hosted the former champions in their final match. A goal from Gundogan and a penalty by Haaland secured the team in blue a spot in the UCL. With some summer signings coming in, City will look to regain their Premier League title and win more silverware next campaign.
Chelsea knocks out Forest
Chelsea and Nottingham Forest were fighting for a spot in the Champions League. Forest hosted Chelsea in their final game of the campaign. A win for either side could have sealed a spot for them. Chelsea came out as the eventual winners, thanks to Levi Colwill. The defender scored on the 50th minute and one goal was enough to seal the deal. Chelsea will play their final game of the campaign against Real Betis. Enzo Maresca has a chance to add UEFA Conference League glory in his first campaign for the Blues.

Newcastle qualifies despite final-day loss
The Magpies became the final team to book their place in the UEFA Champions League. Newcastle United hosted Everton in their final home game. Eddie Howe’s men needed a win to secure their spot. However, things didn’t end in their favour. Carlos Alcaraz scored the only goal of the game to hand Everton their 11th win of the campaign.

Newcastle United were lucky to see other teams lose their respective matches. This season was one of the best in their Premier League history. The Magpies ended their trophy drought and made it to the Champions League.
Manchester United sends Villa to the Europa League
Aston Villa were the last team fighting for a UCL spot. They were up against Manchester United, who were fresh from their disappointing Europa League final loss. Ruben Amorim men were looking a bit energised. The first half ended goalless, but Villa ended with 10 men. Emi Martinez was sent off for taking out Hojlund outside the penalty box.
Manchester United were lucky after the referee gave a foul for a possible goal. Bayindir was caught by Morgan Rogers as he tried to get hold of the ball. The ball was not in control of the keeper, and Rogers scored the goal, only to be ruled out due to the referee’s whistle. It took Manchester United 76 minutes to take the lead. Bruno Fernandes was the creator of Amad Diallo’s header. 10 minutes later, the home team was awarded a penalty. Christian Eriksen stepped up to score in his final game for the Red Devils. Villa finished fifth and will play in the Europa League.
