SRH triumph over CSK at Chepauk in IPL 2025
SRH faced off against Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk Stadium in a clash between two bottom-of-the-table teams in the Indian Premier League. The orange army had yet to win a game at Chennai’s fortress in the history of the premier competition.
This has been a season where a lot of records have been broken. SRH also ended their winless streak and managed to beat CSK for the first time on their home ground. This low-scoring tie was full of exciting cricket, and here is how the match went.
Aggressive approach, but a lack of execution
CSK has struggled to score runs this season. The top order has struggled, and Gaikwad’s injury has had a significant impact on batting. The management decided to give debut to Dewald Brevis. However, the home team made the worst possible start. Shami removed Shaik Rasheed on the very first ball of the match.

Sam Curran was promoted in the batting order but he was unable to make an impact. Ayush Mhatre showed some signs of intent. His 30-run cameo was enough to show everyone that he is the future star of Indian cricket. The home team was struggling to score and lost three wickets in the powerplay. Jaddu was also promoted to No. 4. He came ahead of Brevis. These two stood at the crease for a while, but Jaddu failed to capitalise on the opportunity.
SRH Execute Smart Bowling Plan to Restrict CSK to 154
CSK lost wickets at a regular interval and that halted the scoring rate. Dewald Brevis was looking in top form. He smashed three 6s in the 12th over to change the momentum of the game. However, Hyderabad bowlers came in with a plan.

In the very next over, Kamindu Mendis took a brilliant catch at long off to take out the South African. The rest of the batters struggled, and CSK managed only 154 runs in 20 overs. Harshal Patel took four wickets for his team. He understood the conditions and was the best bowler of the match. Cummins and Unadkat added a couple of wickets each to their name.
Openers fail, but the middle order led the chase
SRH lost their first wicket in the second ball of their innings. Once again, Abhishek Sharma gave an easy catch on the offside. This has been his weakness in the recent matches. Travis Head also struggled a bit but managed to score 19 runs.
Ishan Kishan came in with a positive intent after a poor error against MI. He was scoring runs from one end and putting pressure on the bowlers. Klaasen failed to put up a show after a good knock in the previous game. Cameos from Mendis, Aniket, and Nitish took SRH over the line in this bottle of the table match.
Noor Ahmed added two wickets to his name but the dew factor made his figures a bit expensive. The bowlers gave away a few extra runs, and that helped SRH to chase the target with eight balls and five wickets remaining. They move to eighth in the points table, and CSK are still at the bottom of the table.
