IPL 2025: Ashuthosh Sharma gave a Powerful Start For DC
IPL 2025 has made a blockbuster start. RCB started their campaign with a statement win. This was followed by some ruthless batting from the Sunrisers Hyderabad players. CSK troubled the Mumbai Indians in their opening match.
Delhi Capitals also opened their account in the 2025 edition by dramatically chasing a huge total. The team led by Axar Patel defeated Rishab Pant’s Lucknow Super Giants in the final over of the match. Ashutosh Sharma was the hero of the match.
IPL 2025: Explosive batting by LSG batters
Axar Patel decided to bowl first in his first match as DC’s captain. They were without KL Rahul for this match. Jake Fraser-McGurk, Faf du Plessis, Tristan Stubbs, and Mitchell Starc were the four overseas players.
LSG had some powerful hitters in their squad. Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Nicolas Pooran, and David Miller were their four overseas players. The batting depth allowed the players to move their hands freely.

Markram opened the innings with Marsh. Both batters started decently, with Mitchell Marsh taking over the charge. The first wicket fell on 46. Markram was the first player to get dismissed. Pooran came to the middle and stepped on the accelerator. These two struck the ball nicely and scored 87 runs in just 42 balls for the second wicket.
Death bowling & spinners restrict LSG
Mitchell Marsh scored 72 at a strike rate of 200. Pooran smashed 75 runs in just 30 balls. Lucknow were 133 in 11.4 overs when Marsh got out. Kuldeep Yadav bowled a sensational spell as he gave away just 20 runs and took two wickets. This added pressure on the LSG batters. They were striking at around 12 runs per over, but Delhi bowlers restricted them to 209 runs. Starc took three wickets towards the end.

Early setbacks for DC
Delhi Capitals needed to start well in such a big chase. Shardul Thakur had some other ideas. The fast bowler took two wickets in the very first over of the innings. Fraser-McGurk and Porel were out cheaply. Soon, other players followed them, and Delhi was under a lot of pressure. In 6.4 overs, Delhi were 65 for five.
Ashutosh leads the chase
Tristan Stubbs was the only renowned batter left. Ashutosh Sharma was introduced as an impact player. He made a name for himself by playing a couple of knocks for Punjab Kings in the last edition. Stubbs took the charge but was dismissed on 34. Ashutosh was building his innings. He was on 20 in as many balls. Youngster Vipraj Nigam joined him in the middle.
Ashutosh and Vipraj created a 55 55-run stand in just 22 balls for the seventh wicket. Vipraj scored 39 in just 15 balls. His wicket created a bit of panic, and Delhi lost two more wickets. Ashutosh was calm at the other end. He scored 40 runs in his successive 10 balls. The match went into the final over, but Ashutosh was not on strike. Mohit Sharma used his experience and gave Ashutosh the strike on the second ball. The batter ended the match with a six. He scored 66 runs, with the last 46 runs coming in just 11 balls. Delhi Capitals opened their campaign with a win.
