Another poor start for the visitors
Arshdeep Singh was one of the best white-ball bowlers in 2024. He continued his form in the second match by getting Phil Salt in the very first over. Washington Sundar returned to the squad as he took out Ben Duckett in his first over.

England were in all sorts of trouble but Buttler held the innings from one end. He was smashing the Indian bowlers. However, the team was losing wickets. Varun Chakaravarthy once again outdid Harry Brook. Buttler also lost his wicket to Axar Patel. England were 77 for four in 9.3 overs.
The visitors focused on clearing the rope. All their batters were hitting long-range shots and that resulted in nine sixes. But these big shots also led to most of their wickets. After a collective effort from the lower order and bowlers, England posted 165 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Axar and Varun took two wickets each. Arshdeep, Hardik, Sundar, and Abhishek chipped in with a wicket each.
Early blow for the men in blue
Indian openers were fearless in the opening encounter. They were not afraid of the express pace of the English bowlers. Abhishek smashed three fours in his first five balls. Mark Wood delivered a fast in-swing ball and caught Sharma LBW in front of the wicket. Soon Samson followed his opening partner in the very next over. This time Jofra Archer used his pace to get the wicket-keeping batsman.
Brydon Carse troubles the middle order
Carse has been hitting good lengths since he arrived in international cricket. He was introduced to the attack and got Surya’s wicket straightaway. Soon, Dhruv Jurel followed him and India was reduced to 66 for four in 7.4 overs.
Hardik came to the middle and opened his account in style. But he too lost his wicket for just seven runs. Tilak Varma stood at the other end and saw his partners getting dismissed.
Tilak Varma Shines
Varma came in at one-down and anchored the innings till the end. Washington Sundar provided brief support before the lower-order batters stepped in. Tilak played a composed knock, scoring 72 off 55 balls, carefully choosing his moments to attack. Arshdeep and Bishnoi contributed crucial runs, ensuring India reached the target with four balls to spare. A collective effort, led by Tilak’s brilliance, secured the victory for India.
