Bangladesh defied all odds and created history by defeating Pakistan for the first time, and that too in an away game. As a cricket fan, who would have imagined that Pakistan, after reaching a solid total and declaring, would lose the game? But this is why we love Test cricket.
Bangladesh lost the Toss and Pakistan had the Advantage
At the Rawalpindi Stadium, skipper Shan Masood won the toss and, without hesitation, opted to bat. Pakistan had a shaky start, losing 3 quick wickets. But Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan batted solidly, taking the score to an impressive total of 448, which Masood believed was enough, leading to a declaration. Shakeel scored 141 while Rizwan remained unbeaten on 171.

Bangladesh Had the Answer
After conceding 448 runs, the Bangladeshi batters knew how to respond. They did just that. They took on the Pakistani attack and scored 565 in their first innings. Pakistan’s attack, which consisted of 4 pacers and just 1 spinner, was helpless against the Bangladeshi batters. Veteran Mushfiqur Rahim was the star, scoring 191 and narrowly missing out on a double century by just 9 runs. He was well supported by opener Shadman Islam (93), Mominul (50), Litton Das (56), and Mehidy Hasan (77), helping their team take a lead of 103 runs. Pakistan’s bowlers were exhausted after bowling 167 overs, leaving them with only 49 overs in hand.

From Dominating to Pressured to Save the Match
After the first innings, where Pakistan might have thought of winning the game. They were now under pressure to save the Test match. The Bangladeshi bowlers were energized and with a lead of 117 runs. They bowled out Pakistan for just 146 in their second innings, leaving a lead of only 29 runs. Rizwan was the lone fighter with 51 runs. Mehidy Hasan and Shakib trapped the Pakistani batters in their spin web, sharing 7 wickets between them.

Bangladesh Wins by 10 Wickets and Creates History
Bangladesh chased down the 30 runs easily and won the Test match. Mushfiqur Rahim was awarded Player of the Match for his heroics. This was their first-ever victory against Pakistan in tests India and South Africa are the only 2 test-playing nations that Bangladesh has not defeated in the red ball format.
The two teams will meet again on August 30th. While Bangladesh will look to seal the series, Pakistan will have to find some answers. After a poor exit from the T-20 World Cup, they have now lost a home test to Bangladesh. The most talked about name in Pak cricket got out cheaply in both Innings. specialist skipper Shan Masood also had no contributions.
